I’m one of those who believe that conscious songs outlive the average pop song. My reason is simple- conscious songs, especially in a country like Nigeria where social problems are recurring and never ending, are almost eternally relevant. Victor Olaiya’s ‘Ilu le’ from the early 80s remains with us, many popular songs from that time gone with the wind.

I’d like to know your reasons for stating that the belief is delusional, perhaps in a different post. Thank you.
